year 8 mandatory geography
|
Topic 1: Globalisation
This topic looks at how and why the process of Globalisation has occurred and how it is both a benefit and disadvantage to different groups around the globe. Students investigate where their consumer goods come from, where and why they visit certain locations for holidays, and how the process of Globalisation brings about a greater standard of living for them often at the expense of others. |
Topic 2: Global Issues
|
The study of these aspects of geography builds a sense of how the less fortunate members of the global society live. Students investigate causes of the different Global issues and how they, as members of the affluent west could assist others less fortunate than themselves. This part of the course is thought provoking and allows for the development of a wide range of social introspection on the part of each student.
