REVOLUTION OF THOUGHT ASSESSMENT
As with all courses delivered at Macarthur Girls, assessment for learning and assessment of learning is in integral part of the teaching process. An overview of the assessment program is given below. This assessment will be from most of the topics covered as part of the course. The weightings are intended to guide individual students about the relative importance of this formal aspect of the course. It is also a requirement of all students that they follow the school policy regarding continued effort to ensure their opportunity for success is maximised
Year 9
MODULE 1: ASSESSMENT There is no formal assessment for this unit. MODULE 2: ASSESSMENT The formal assessment for this unit of work is an oral presentation limited to 5-8 min in duration and can be in a multi-media format. MODULE 3: ASSESSMENT Students will be assessed on their documentation of class discussion and reflection via a Logbook. The logbook can be in an electronic form (such as Wiki or Ning). MODULE 4: ASSESSMENT For this unit of work, students will be asked to apply the techniques of forecasting to devise a group project based on an issue arising in the study of this unit. Students will also complete an individual project based on an issue they personally connect to. For both projects students will also submit a ‘logbook’ which can be in electronic form such as Wiki or Ning. Weighting: Group project - future study -25% Individual project - 15% Logbook - 10% MODULE 5: ASSESSMENT There is no formal assessment for this unit of work. |
Year 10
MODULE 6: ASSESSMENT Students complete an individual research project and submit a logbook of their progress and understanding of the unit. Weighting:
MODULE 7: ASSESSMENT Students will be assessed on their class discussion and logbook reflections. Logbook documentation can be in an online format. Weighting:
MODULE 8 ASSESSMENT Students are to choose one of the philosophical questions posed in the text and formulate an independent project to present their own concerns and investigations. The purpose of this ‘mini-task’ is to model the major research project in Module 9. Weighting:
MODULE 9: ASSESSMENT The major research project is an open format where students can critically engage with developing their own research problem and utilise the research methodology covered in class. All students must complete a project proposal form and consult with the teacher on the feasibility of their ideas. Weighting:
