elective Geography is a course which allows students to engage in a variety of interest areas of the study of Geogrpahy. There is a freedom to ask questions, develop research methodologies and increase understanding of the issues facing society as a whole, or a group of society more specifically.
It has traditionally been found that students find this course to be very specialised, and sothey tend to avoid the opportunites it offers. It can look at issues such as plate tectonics, why we have earthquakes and volcanoes (very much in harmony with the Science topic on structure of the Earth)
